The USS Liberty (AGTR-5) was attacked on June 8, 1967.
The attack resulted in the death of 34, the wounding of at least 174 others and the total destruction of the ship as evidenced by its being sold for scrap.
Congress has investigated every attack on a US Navy ship since the end of World War II except the attack on the USS Liberty.
The attack on a US Navy ship should be investigated because it happened and absent the determination of a viable reason for the attack prior to the initiation of any such investigation.
