If You’re Angry at the Israelis, Please Consider This

by Joe Meadors If Americans are to be angry at anyone as a result of the June 8, 1967, Israeli attack on the USS Liberty, it’s not the Israelis that should be the focus of their anger. It is their own government as well as the group of Conditionally Patriotic Americans who have completely rejected the account of their countrymen and have not only unapologetically accepted without question the word of the forces who attacked their countrymen but have heaped scorn and derision upon USS Liberty survivors who have done nothing more than shared what happened to us during and after the attack. Remember, it is the American government that ordered the recall of two flights of rescue aircraft from Sixth Fleet aircraft carriers while we were still under attack and calling for help. And it is the group of Conditionally Patriotic Americans who continue to claim that Congress has conducted any number of investigations of the attack on our ship while ignoring the offer to help them verify that claim by contacting their Members of Congress to request a copy of the Congressional investigation of the attack as well as having their Congressmen ask the Congressional Research Service to send them a copy of the US government investigation of the attack. They also refuse to accept help to verify their claim of a Congressional investigation of the attack on our ship by asking the Senate and House Historians to send them a copy of the Congressional investigation of the attack. If you have not yet asked for those documents I encourage you to do so now.  It’s a simple process described at http://bit.ly/2ZxgqTI, http://bit.ly/2XrJwXe and http://bit.ly/2JYf29p. I’m sure you will receive statements similar to the one we received from a Congressman yesterday, “To date, there have not been formal congressional investigations of the USS Liberty incident.” Not that Congressional statements like that will have any effect on those who claim there have been not one but numerous Congressional investigations of the attack.
